The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is one of the most iconic buildings in Christianity. This church is located in Jerusalem and according to tradition, contains two of the most holy sites in the religion. These sites are the location where Jesus was crucified, known as Calvary, as well as Jesus' tomb. The church was built in the 4th century AD when Constantine converted to Christianity, and set people out to look for the location of Jesus' burial. Although the tomb had been filled in and covered by a Pagan temple, they believed this was the location where he was buried. Constantine then ordered a church to be constructed where the temple was. The church is shared between different denominations of Christianity, and because of this it is difficult to make any changes or restorations to the church, as the parties need to agree on such changes. This church can be visited in the Christian quarter of old Jerusalem throughout the year, where people can see these famous sites.
