Landscapes of the Sacred- The mountain that was god
On page 94 of Landscapes of the Sacred, It tells a story of Mount Rainier, and why the Indians call it "Tahoma," or The Mountain that was god. This vocalic mountain has twenty seven glaciers Giant trees and boulders. Being in such a place the story teller describes it as an amazing place that offered astonishing beauty and he wanted to leave a gift in appreciation of what this place has given him. He quickly realized how deep human poverty is, and how he had nothing to leave, nothing of value to give back for what he has received. Reading this I came to the realization that this is in-fact one of the many reasons its referred to as The mountain that was god, because this amazing places gives you beauty and offers so much to us and does not want anything in return except being and acting respectful, similar to god.
