Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture 1

December 03, 2019

On page 1 of this book Turner and Turner say, "In view of its importance in the actual functioning of these religions, both quantitatively and qualitatively, pilgrimage has been surprisingly neglected by historians and social scientists." This quote is honestly sad to read, because of how little people know about the topic of pilgrimage. It does not really surprise me though because pilgrimage is not a topic that is very well-known or talked about in school, so its more difficult for people to find out more about it unless further researching it themselves. I personally did not know anything about pilgrimages before taking this class, and this class has definitely opened my eyes about it and made me want to tell others about it. It is a very interesting topic and should be told to others.
