Landscapes of the Sacred 1

On page 7 Lane says, "Personal identity is fixed for us by the feel of our own bodies, the naming of the places we occupy, and the environmental objects that beset our landscape." This quote talks about how we as people can use our gut feeling or heart to find our identity. It also talks about how humans frequently call places "home" or "ours" and these certain places can also be used to identify our personal identity in this world. Lastly, it talks about how the nature that surrounds us is a big part of defining our identity. This quote speaks to me because I agree that these three things are a big part of defining yourself and your identity in this life. It also says how it is "fixed" for us, meaning that we have almost a guide to finding our personal identity, which is helpful.
