Lane Reading Part 1
“Prayer as precious: as pure and as personal as possible”
I stumbled upon this quote while reading Lane’s book Landscapes of the Sacred: Geography and Narrative in American Spirituality. All these books keep bringing me back to the same thing, and that is that praying brings out something within someone. Prayer is something personal and no one can ever stop another person’s connection with God. That prayer is a pure concept that cannot be tainted by anyone or anything. Prayer, in essence, can be both big or small. It is up to the person praying to decide what their next move will be, and if they will put all their faith into God. Prayer is an art that is something special to those who practice it, and that art is something that can, nor will it ever, be sullied by that of something impure.
