Living on a Lakehouse

Back home I live on a small lake. My house is surrounded by trees and we have deer run across the street all the time, so you have to drive carefully during the day and night. Our house is separated from the lake by the woods. So, a lot of the time you will see deer roaming in our backyard and sipping water down by the lake. Similar to the animal encounters in our class readings, I've run into an instance where I turned on my car and a deer head pops up from the pile of fall leaves right in front of me. I froze up and turned my headlights off because I knew I had disturbed her from her rest but I knew I was late to an event. So, when I turned the headlights back on, she stayed lying in the leaves staring right at me. For some time both of us were looking into one another's eyes. It's sad to think this was her home before my house was built, but now we both share the location and live in coexistence.
