Logan O'Leary: Nature Blog 1

While out on the Nolan trail I commonly felt myself being drawn to the roots of trees in the ground. The roots were painted orange in order to draw attention from those who hike the trail, and indeed did its job. Looking almost like large carrots strewn all over the ground, they called out to me from afar. They contrasted greatly to the natural colors of the surround trees and small plants. Seas of green and brown with small segments of bright orange. Trying to draw my attention away, I look toward the canopy of the trees. It seemed like clouds of different green shapes. From the oak leaves to the needles of a pine, each tree had its own distinct shape and height. While not being able to name them, I started to notice the slight differences between the similar ones. One tree would have slightly larger and more waxy leaves than that of a different type. When trying to differentiate the types of trees, my attention was again caught by an orange root in my path, starting the cycle over that I was trying so hard to break out of.
