Mount Rainer

One of the readings that we had this week was to learn about the “face of God mountain,” otherwise known as Mt. Rainier in Washington state. I had the privilege of exploring this national park a few years ago when my family traveled and explored the North West coastal area. I was mostly impressed with the evergreen trees when we got there; they looked almost fake with the most vibrant green needles. There was definitely a different energy the further away from the city we got climbing in elevation. Snow started to fill the empty fields and the air got thinner. I feel the most at peace when I am in nature, removed from societal obligations. I find myself really appreciate the aesthetic and landscape of the area when I take photographs. My goal is to take the best picture that does the landscape and the area justice which takes work, so I have to carefully analyze the scenery. This makes me stop and observe many things others overlook. Mount Rainer has another name that is Tahoma. This means “the face of God.” In the reading that talks about this place that many thinks is of great power and meaning. It’s also a place that reaches the highest in altitude, or so many thought. The history of the mountains significance comes from the Native Americans.
