My Life

All my life, I've grown up in a non religious home. My father is atheist and my mother was raised Lutheran. Even though I grew up like this, I still attended church many times with my grandparents and friends, especially as I started to get older. I have always like the teachings and values that Christianity teaches, but one thing I never understood was the need to spread the religion. I have always seen it as the "business side" of religion, though I have never understood the need for it-- and I still don't. To me, I think it brings separation between everyone of different religions, even though everyone has the choice to choose what they believe in. I have a friend who is a strong Christian, and I have attended her church many times with her. Though there has been many times where I feel pressured by her to believe what she does even though I know that is not her intention. I think the need to spread religion sometimes overpowers the need to spread the "goodness in the world" that the Bible preaches. I do understand wanting others to be in the same awesome beliefs that people believe, though I don't always understand the urgency that I have experienced with it.
