What Is Pilgrimage? 12/4/2019

The book states that pilgrimage came from ancient times and became prominent with the rise of major historical religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism. As such, one of the important founding pieces of pilgrimage is its relationship with religion. People practice pilgrimages as a way to strengthen their faith. Depending on what the pilgrimage entails of, it could even be considered as a means of spiritual cleansing. Through the successes and the struggles, one comes to find, through their active, physical seeking, the true importance of God, the value of our faith in Him, and a cleanse from the worldliness of the flesh around us. I think that it really is an authentic, genuine experience in which those who perform it may experience their spirituality in a different way.
